Welcome to Day 15 of my September Sweet Treats Giveaway! Today our featured Trinity Lakes Romance book is Like Stars that Shine by Jenny Glazebrook that’s on preorder and releasing in 2025. Jenny has kindly offered a BONUS GIVEAWAY connected to her posts (see below for how to enter the Grand Prize and Jenny’s Bonus Giveaway).
Let’s talk about sweet treats we can indulge in while reading Like Stars that Shine.
Today we’re visiting with Esther and Tanner. Esther is Josh and Jodie’s sister, and she was previously living in Spokane. Esther is dealing with a couple of matchmakers who’d love to set her up on dates.
For our sweet treat today, we could go on a picnic. The book cover is pretty and the perfect backdrop for a summer picnic by the lake. What would you include in your ideal summer picnic hamper?
Here’s the book description for Esther and Tanner’s romance story in LIKE STARS THAT SHINE:
Esther Ladan has lost all confidence in her ability to read people. A very public break-up with her boyfriend has dealt a devastating blow to her heart and her pride.
Now her sister Jodie and two of the town’s most big-hearted, big-mouthed elderly ladies are determined to find her perfect match.
After years in witness protection, Tanner Elliott is finally free to live his life without looking over his shoulder. Still, he’s learned to be more observant than most and he’s an expert in reading body language.
When Esther asks him to scrutinize every date her friends provide for her, the results are not what either of them expected.
Can Esther and Tanner overcome their difficult pasts, learn to trust Jesus with their hearts, and shine for Him in a broken world?
Visit Trinity Lakes and meet the fun and quirky characters who value family, faith, and happily-ever-after.
Trinity Lakes Romance series can be read as standalone Christian contemporary romances. For a richer reading experience, and the opportunity to learn more about the characters who appear in multiple books, I’d recommend reading the series in order. The ebooks are available for your reading pleasure in Kindle Unlimited.

I would have a charcuterie tray with wine. I love having a small selection of cheeses, crackers and fruit. Audrey S. USA
Sounds very classy. I would need to buy a pre-prepared tray, I think.
Hi Audrey, That sounds amazing. 😊
Charcuterie board! Lots of cheese – I love cheese!
Natalya L. USA
I have some family members who love cheese. Sounds like a good idea.
Hi Natalya, I love cheese, too. When I was in high school, I worked in a deli and began my education in learning about all the different varieties of cheeses. 😊
I don’t like picnics. Too hot, dirty and BUGS. Nothing in the basket for me thanks.
Mary P AUSTRALIA
I totally understand, Mary (I’m from Australia too). But maybe I could cope if there was a lot of bug spray or tropical strength aerogard added to the basket ; )
Hi Mary, In Canberra, during the cooler weather months, we can picnic without all the flies etc. It’s no fun in the heat and/or humidity with mosquitoes and other bugs.
I like picnics to be finger foods that are not super messy. So cheeses, crackers, sandwiches, fruit, cookies, etc.
Carolyn F. USA
Yes, finger foods are a great idea, Carolyn! So much easier.
Hi Carolyn, Your finger food in a picnic basket would work for me. 😊
Sandwiches! There are so many variations to make and it’s not very messy.
Madi S. Australia
I’m a sandwich girl too, Madi. I love them even more when I don’t make them myself. Not sure why, but they always taste better.
Hi Madi, I always smile when I think about sandwiches and picnics. My husband organised a picnic for our second date. He had all the sandwich fixings—cold meats, salad, cheese etc. and he was secretly worried I’d hate it because he’d forgotten to pack butter/margarine. I don’t eat butter/margarine on sandwiches and didn’t even notice it was missing until he mentioned it, lol. 😊
I would include some chicken, salads, and cookies. Debby USA
Yes, that would be my type of picnic too. Sounds delicious.
Hi Debra, I agree with Jenny, your picnic basket sounds lovely. 😊
Sandwiches, strawberry lemonade, and cookies.
Amelia S. USA
Yum. Strawberry lemonade sounds like it might be what we call creaming soda here in Australia.
Hi Amelia, I’d like to try strawberry lemonade. 😊
I’m putting grapes, cheese, fried chicken, and chocolate chip cookies in my picnic basket!
Cheese seems to be a bit of a favourite for picnics : ) Your basket sounds very enjoyable.
Hi Elizabeth, I like having fruit in my picnic basket. 😊
I would love cheese, crackers, sandwiches and some cookies in my basket! SARAH T. USA
I would come along for that!
Hi Sarah, I like snacking on cheese and crackers. 😊
I think I would have some rolls. mine would be vegemite and the others can have what they like best in a roll. I think a finger bun or and a soda would work or some other biscuits. maybe some fruit. Or if there is a fish a chip shop nearby would buy some fish and chips or a burger and chips to eat by the lake. Done that a few times when been with friends on holidays. (We did it in Fremantle got the fish and chips and sat on the wharf.) Love the look of this book.
Ooh, now you’re talking my language. Fish and chips by the lake would be perfect. We’ll have to do it together one day!
Hi Jenny, I’d love to join you all for fish and chips. 😊
Stuff for a charcuterie board but individually packed in container that are air-tight and bug-proof
Katie R. USA
The individual containers is a great idea.
Hi Katie, yes, it definitely needs to be bug-proof. 😊
Yes, lovely cover! ❤️ For a picnic, I just need a comfortable seat and good book to get lost in 😃 (I don’t ask for much.) Jaye (Aus)
Hi Jaye, yes and yes! A good book is essential. 😊
I would pack chicken salad sandwiches, chips, fruit, and a sweet dessert like cookies or brownies. Stephanie H. USA
Some kind of sandwiches, and potato salad, and some kind of chips,( potato chips,or corn chips),and some cookies. Bridgette S. USA.
I’d bring deli sandwiches, chips, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, and cookies for dessert.
Heidi R.
USA
sandwiches, drinks, snacks, and of course some kind of sweet treat!
Sandwiches… probably chicken salad.. my husband would want potato chips.. there would be raw veggies like carrots, broccoli, sweet peppers, cauliflower and possibly a bit of curry dip for them. And fruit.. berries, melon, peaches. Maybe some cookies for a sweet treat. All able to eat without utensils!
My children, 3 boys and a girl, are all grown so I don’t have to hide things anymore but when they were little we kept a lot of the sweets in our closet so they wouldn’t eat them all at once. My sons would eat everything if they could.
Cindi K. USA
I would bring sub sandwiches cut into fours, chips, potato salad and brownies. I would also bring water and drinks. These are all favorites with my family.
Cindi K. USA
For a picnic, I would include deli sandwhiches, dill pickles, pretzels, brownies and iced tea. Debra P. USA.
I like tortilla rolls, crackers, cheese, cookies, and strawberries in my picnics.
Fried Chicken, biscuits, fudgy brownies, and iced tea. Cherie J-USA
Going on a picnic sounds like fun! I would be sure to pack some fruit salad. -Kai B., USA
Cheese & crackers, grapes, sandwiches or chicken strips, & brownies
Joannie S., U.S.A.
