2024 September Sweet Treats Giveaway Day 5 – Love Somebody Like You by Carolyn Miller

Welcome to Day 5 of my September Sweet Treats Giveaway! Today our featured Trinity Lakes Romance book is Love Somebody Like You by Carolyn Miller. Carolyn has kindly offered a BONUS GIVEAWAY connected to her posts (see below for how to enter the Grand Prize and Carolyn’s Bonus Giveaway).

Let’s talk about sweet treats we can indulge in while reading Love Somebody Like You.

Today we’re visiting with Jackson and Lexi. Jackson lives on his family’s ranch and he loves visiting Joe’s Diner. You can find Jackson at Joe’s Diner every Sunday after church. You’ll probably see Jackson there with his sister, Ellie, and their friends including Jasper, Josh, and Brandon.

For our sweet treat today, we can follow Jackson’s lead and order a Trinity burger with the works aka. a burger with the lot—and a chocolate shake. Jackson’s server doesn’t need to write down his lunch order because Jackson always orders the same thing. What would your ideal Trinity burger look like? Would you order a chocolate shake, or something else?

Here’s the book description for Jackson and Lexi’s romance story in LOVE SOMEBODY LIKE YOU:

For Lexi Franklin, returning to Trinity Lakes feels a little like running home with her tail between her legs.

But what’s a girl to do, when her life has been turned upside down on the other side of the world? She needs a place to regain hope and healing – just didn’t count on meeting a cowboy whose own battered heart might need nursing back to health too.

Jackson Reilly has his own set of troubles, between caring for his ranch, his mom, and the black hole of finances. So when a pretty redhead with a sassy tongue offers some distraction – and a potential solution to one of his most pressing concerns – he’s not going to say no.

But as they spend time together, questions soon rise about their future, and whether faith can truly win over fears. Will Jackson be able to save his ranch, and his hopes and heart, before Lexi returns to Australia?

An opposites attract, small town contemporary Christian romance. Visit Trinity Lakes and meet the fun and quirky characters who value family, faith, and happily-ever-after.

Trinity Lakes Romance series can be read as standalone Christian contemporary romances. For a richer reading experience, and the opportunity to learn more about the characters who appear in multiple books, I’d recommend reading the series in order. The ebooks are available for your reading pleasure in Kindle Unlimited.

  1. I am a long time fan of Carolyn Miller! I have most of her books. I love a cheeseburger, but if I had it with a shake, the shake is very filling. I am so excited to read all the books. Audrey S. USA

  2. Ok this is one I can sort of go with although I tend to be a little picky. I would have a burger with just the cheese, beetroot, tomato, bacon and tomato sauce. (No onion, egg, lettuce or anything else) (only exception would be pineapple.) and I love a chocolate shake (Banana is even better).
    I did enjoy this series.

    1. Ooh, yay for beetroot on a burger. And my favourite shake is line with malt – yum!

      1. Our local cafe told me a few weeks back to enjoy the banana milkshakes because they can’t buy the topping anymore. They have one last 3 litre one (probably 2 litres left) and that’s it. My ultimate favourite is Pineapple milkshakes but that’s even harder to find. Thankfully I like chocolate.

        1. Hi Jenny, I’m a fan of the lot being everything, lol. Beef burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles (gherkins), onion, bacon, fried egg, beetroot, pineapple with mayo and tomato sauce (ketchup). 😊

I also like pineapple in a smoothie with coconut milk (nonalcoholic pina colada). The range of milkshake flavours isn’t as good as it used to be. I wasn’t aware that banana was being phased out.

  3. I’m not really a shake person, but any sort of Iced Latte or smoothie is always one of choices. I love Lexi and Jackson! I wish we saw more of them in future books.

    1. Ooh, Madi, you might catch some more of their story in the next two books about the Reilly family, Tangled Up in Love and Only You Can Love Me. I hope you enjoy!

  4. I would like my cheeseburger to have lots of pickles and bacon. Shakes are fantastic but vanilla for me.

    1. Hi Debra, It’s a yes from me for pickles and bacon on a cheeseburger. I’m on the fence when it comes to vanilla shakes. Sometimes I love them and other times I’m disappointed. It depends on the type of vanilla flavouring that’s used to make it. 😊

  5. Love Carolyn Miller’s books so looking forward to reading these! Back in the day, I would’ve gotten a hamburger with pretty much everything on it and a chocolate malt not a milkshake. There is a difference. These days I eat a lot healthier, but I still love a good burger. One of our local places does burger in a bowl. Basically whatever kind of burger you want. They chop it up and serve it on a bed of Romain lettuce. It really is yummy. So my standard would have the burger patty, American or Cheddar cheese, bacon, onion, pickles & sauce. But I also love a burger with provolone and grilled onions. So good!

    1. Hi Barbara, I’m allergic to malt and it’s one ingredient I’m always checking in milkshakes etc. A burger in a bowl sounds really good and easier to eat, lol. It’s great that we have healthier options, too. 😊

      1. Food allergies definitely require paying attention to ingredients. My daughter is allergic to cinnamon, which is found in so many things.

        1. Cinnamon would be very tricky to keep tabs on. I’m thankful I don’t have to worry about anaphylaxis reactions. I have noticed my allergies and food intolerances are getting worse as I get older.

    2. Yay Barbara – I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed my books! I hope you enjoy checking out the Trinity Lakes series 🙂

  6. I think I’d go for a chocolate shake and fries. (Now I’m really hungry!) 😀

    Elizabeth L., USA

  7. Yum sounds good… I would eat a Trinity burger but minus pickles and a chocolate shake! 🙂

  8. My burger would have everything except onion and mayonnaise. I like chocolate shakes but if peach or banana were available, I would have one of those instead.
I receive Carolyn Miller’s newsletter and enjoy her stories.

    Carolyn F. USA

  9. I want to sit and watch the horse. Such a relaxing cover. Debra P. USA. God bless you.

    1. So glad you like it, Debra. I hoped that putting horses on each cover would help people gain a sense of that kind of area. God bless you, too!

  10. I would have a bacon cheeseburger with ketchup & mustard and a vanilla milkshake.

I’m pretty sure I’m already subscribed to Ms. Miller’s newsletter.

  11. Judith M. United States I love shakes! Especially the ones at Sonic! I rarely drink them because they’re so high in calories. I treated my daughter to a shake today after she got dental work done and I had a small amount of hers.

    1. I can’t remember when I had a shake or malt. Like you, too many calories. But my husband gets one occasionally and I always snitch a taste. 🤣

  12. I love a good burger with cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes! And I enjoy pretty much anything chocolate=)

  13. I love Carolyn’s books. I’d love a chance to read another.
    I love cheeseburgers and shakes.
    Kim

  14. Yes cheeseburger with pickles, I’ll add ketchup, mayo. Oh can I add slice of lettuce! Vanilla shake for a drink please. 😋
    Michele
    USA

  15. I’m a newer fan of Carolyn’s books! The ones that I have read are so heartwarming and filled with humor and a strong message of faith. I’m looking forward to reading many more! I’m in the US.

  16. Anything on the burger besides tomatoes! And I would definitely order the chocolate shake!! Yum!
    Katie R. USA

  17. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a chocolate shake, add an order of fries and that sounds great!

    Sabrina G. USA

  18. I like burgers with cheese, lettuce, and pickles, and condiments–and maybe a slice of bacon, if I’m splurging. I like chocolate desserts, but perhaps a brownie a la mode instead of a shake.

  19. I love a good milkshake and am now craving one just by hearing this mention! I haven’t read this series yet but really want to.

  20. Unfortunately, I’m prediabetic with borderline high cholesterol. I eat fairly healthy and only weigh about 101. So, no burger or shake. It looks like I’ll have to take meds soon. I wonder if that will allow for that chocolate milkshake. LOL!

    1. Hi Teri, It’s tricky when we’re in pre-diabetic territory. Both my parents had Type 2 diabetes in their later years. I’m very intentional about when I eat sugar and I don’t add it to tea, coffee etc. The vanilla shake I splurged on today is my sugar quota. 😊

  21. I would get a bacon cheeseburger with ketchup and yes to the chocolate shake! I really love that cover!
    Joannie S, U.S.A.
