Welcome to Day 11 of my September Sweet Treats Giveaway! Today our featured Trinity Lakes Romance book is Blue Skies Dreaming by Amanda Deed. Don’t forget to comment on this post to gain an additional entry in the Grand Prize Drawing (see below).
Let’s talk about sweet treats we can indulge in while reading Blue Skies Dreaming.
Today we’re visiting with Nick and Violet. Nick is a sky diving instructor and Violet’s friends encourage her to try skydiving.
For our sweet treat today, we’re going to a sausage sizzle that’s happening before Nick, Violet, and a few other familiar faces from Trinity Lakes prepare to go skydiving. Does skydiving appeal to you?
The sausage is usually made of ground beef in a tube (similar to a hot dog) and cooked on a barbecue grill in an outdoor area and served with grilled onions on a single, folded slice of bread with tomato or barbecue sauce. Would you prefer an Aussie sausage sizzle sandwich, or an American hot dog, or something else cooked on an outdoor grill?
Here’s the book description for Violet and Nick’s romance story in BLUE SKIES DREAMING:
The first time Nick Gordon met Violet Reynolds, he knew she was the one.
But now, one year later, after traveling from Australia to Trinity Lakes, Washington State, she doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. And worse than that, she is already seeing someone else. Should he give up and go home, or see out the American summer as a skydiving instructor?
Violet is confused about who she is and what she wants in life, despite a wealthy legacy behind her. The trouble is, she doesn’t feel suited to her tycoon Daddy’s wishes for her. And the fact that the cute guy, who duped her in Australia a year ago, has landed in her town, is not helping.
When Violet’s friends push her to try skydiving to boost her confidence, little does she know Nick will be one of her instructors. But she’s already decided to train beyond a tandem dive to a full license and a big fundraiser sky show, so it’s too late to pull out.
For Nick, this is a godsend. But can he win her heart despite her doubts about him, despite the fact she is seeing someone, and most of all, despite her father’s opposition? Can he learn to leave the outcome in God’s hands?
A love-at-first-sight, small town contemporary Christian romance. Visit Trinity Lakes and meet the fun and quirky characters who value family, faith, and happily-ever-afters.
Trinity Lakes Romance series can be read as standalone Christian contemporary romances. For a richer reading experience, and the opportunity to learn more about the characters who appear in multiple books, I’d recommend reading the series in order. The ebooks are available for your reading pleasure in Kindle Unlimited.

Funny I am hoping to get a couple of sausages at a sausage sizzle today after church. (Its for the local kindy). I like to have one or two sausages in a curst with the tomato sauce no onions. Here its a great fundraiser and the local supermarket provides the bread, sauces, onions and sausages for free. The book looks interesting to its one I haven’t read yet.
Hi Jenny, I hope you enjoyed your sausage sizzle. Every weekend our local Bunnings store (hardware chain) has community groups fundraising via sausage sizzles outside their store entrance. I like adding onions to mine. 😊
Hi Jenny, you’d have to be one of the rare ones who like the crust. Personally prefer the soft, fresh pieces of bread. Yes, sausage sizzles work really well for fund raisers, don’t they?
Hi Amanda (and Narelle) Here there are more people than you would think that want the crust. Today I didn’t cos I knew what type of bread it was and when a crust isn’t fresh isn’t good. But today just had a slice of bread and 2 sausages in the one slice. They are a good fundraiser when the local butchers get behind them. I don’t do onion. It also looks like Woolies isn’t supplying them anymore as the sausages came from the two local butchers today. (my piece of bread was soft and crumbly which was fun to try to eat).
An advantage of the crust, if it’s not too hard, is you can load it up with fillings and it won’t break apart. The paper serviette/napkin that is wrapped around the slice of bread will keep it all intact if the bread is too soft. 😊
I love anything cooked on a grill. I bought myself a grill basket and I grill vegetables all the time. I love hot dogs also.
I went to a used book store and I found Amanda Deets book series Jackson Creek. I had read ‘Unhinged: Joy for Darkness’ and I loved it. So many great authors in the Trinity Lake series. Audrey S. USA
Hi Audrey, I like grilled vegetables, too. I’m so glad you’ve discovered Amanda’s books. Unnoticed is part of the same series as Unhinged and I posted a book recommendation for Unnoticed here on my blog a few years ago. 😊
Hi Audrey, thank you so much, so glad you’re enjoying my books. My husband has recently tried using the kettle barbeque, and smoking meat. So yummy! It’s a great way to cook food!
I am not interested in skydiving. I would be interested in trying the sausage sizzle as long as it isn’t too spicy.
Carolyn F. USA
Hi Carolyn, I’m passing on sky diving, too. It would be unusual for the beef sausages at a sausage sizzle to be spicy. 😊
Hi Carolyn, sausage sizzles generally are not spicy at all … unless of course, you put chilli sauce on it, like my hubby would do. LOL
An Aussie sausage sizzle for me thank you. Mary P Australia
Hi Mary, That works for me. 😊
Hi Mary. Personally I’m not a fan of sausage sizzles – I prefer hot dogs with mustard, cheese and tomato sauce.
I Love grilled sausage, I eat mine on a bun with mustard only. I’m not a fan of onions on anything at all.
Hi Cindi, I’ll sometimes add tomato sauce (ketchup) and American mustard if it’s available. That’s my preference for hot dog toppings and I always add onion. 😊
Hi Cini, I was just thinking, my favourite is actually a cheese kransky in a hot dog bun with the mustard, sauce and onions. Soooo good.
They both sound intriguing. I think I would stay with the hot dog. Sky diving does not sound like something that I could do. I am in a wheelchair. God bless you. Debra P. USA.
Hi Debra, I’m happy to read about sky diving or watch it on tv but it’s not something I aspire to do. A hotdog would also work for me. 😊
Hi Debra, have you read Meredith Resce’s “Over The Rainbow”? It is also from the Trinity Lakes Series and the main character is in a wheel-chair. Blessings.
I don to want to go sky diving. I Like hamburgers grilled. Hot dogs and sausages do not really like me.
Hi Debra, I’m with you on skipping the sky diving. Hamburgers are good. 😊
Debby USA
I am not interested in skydiving and I don’t really like grilled food.
Amelia S. USA
Hi Amelia, I’m with you on the sky diving. 😊
No skydiving for me…
Also not a fan of sausage… I would prefer a hot dog, but my go to is a burger!
Hi Colleen, I’d probably choose a burger over a hot dog, too. 😊
Would Love to have a sausage sizzle have a great day! SARAH T. USA
Hi Sarah, Sausage Sizzles work for me. 😊
Skydiving does not appeal to me in anyway. I have a huge fear of falling.
I love grilled hotdogs so I would absolutely try your Aussie sausage sizzle. Honestly, there’s not much I don’t like cooked on the grill. Our family grills out a lot! Burgers, chicken, sausage, hotdogs, corn, veggie kebabs, pineapple… Those are the main things we do. I’ve also also had grilled shrimp and love it.
Hi Barbara, I can relate to your feelings about sky diving. Your grills sound amazing. Our Aussie sausage sizzles are always good.
We also have what we call our ‘democracy sausage’ after we vote on Election Days (Saturdays). Voting is compulsory here (we get fined if we don’t vote) and it’s a good opportunity for our local schools to fund raise when we all turn up to vote. 😊
No, skydiving does not appeal to me! I think I would prefer something else to eat..maybe some grilled vegetables or a loaded potato. -Kai B., USA
Hi Kai, I made loaded potatoes for our dinner tonight. So good! I can happily miss out on sky diving. 😊
Skydiving does NOT appeal to me! 😀 I’m not one for heights. As for the food, I think I’d go with a hamburger since I’m not a sausage or hot dog person.
Hi Elizabeth, I’m with you on skipping the sky diving. Hamburgers are a great option. 😊
The Aussie sausage sizzle sandwich sounds delicious! Mmmmmm
Natalya L. USA
Hi Natalya, yes, it’s good! 😊
I don’t think I would ever try skydiving. I prefer bratwurst or hamburgers on the grill. Judith M. United States
Hi Judith, I can happily skip skydiving. A hamburger always works for me. 😊
I’m not crazy about sausage sizzles bit I do love the community spirit they bring out.
Madi S. Australia
Hi Madi, yes, I like the community aspect, too. 😊
I would like to go skydiving someday!
The sausage from the sausage sizzle sounds delicious! I would try one!!
Katie R. USA
I have no interest in skydiving. I am not an adrenaline junkie.
A sausage sizzle sounds goid, I would definitely try it.
Patty R., USA
I like hotdogs with ketchup, mustard relish or American sausage with Mayo. Bridgette S. USA.
I love trying new foods so sign me up for an Aussie sausage sizzle sandwich!
Heidi R.
USA
I could go for grilled chicken and veggies on the side, yum! Stephanie H. USA
I would prefer a cheeseburger. Not really a huge fan of hot dogs or sausage on the grill usually. Once in a while I might make an exception. Cherie J-USA
I have no interest in skydiving at all. I like breakfast sausages and hotdogs.
