Book Recommendation – Unexpected Witness by Penny Zeller

Book Description:

If she can identify one person, she could bring down an entire crime network.

Nurse Mila Casey did not expect to witness a murder in the clinic’s parking lot. Nor did she imagine seeking protection from the at-large killer would land her on a secluded ranch owned by handsome, but standoffish, Roarke Brenneman.

Mila finds herself in the center of ever-growing danger as the police are unable to locate the suspect. When the protection of the ranch is compromised and Mila’s location is discovered, can she, with Roarke’s aid, stay one step ahead of a crazed murderer who intends to silence her forever?

Narelle’s Thoughts:

I enjoyed reading Unexpected Witness and I read it quickly, within a day, because I couldn’t put it down. Mila is a nurse at a medical clinic in a small town where she moved after her grandmother passed away. At the start of the story, a spring snowstorm is brewing and Mila is the last person to leave the medical clinic after a long day at work. She witnesses a murder in the clinic parking lot which turns her world upside down.

Roarke’s brother is a sheriff involved in the murder investigation and his family ranch becomes Mila’s safe haven. Danger lurks and circumstances force Mila to seek Roarke’s assistance in protecting her and his family. A friends-to-more romance develops as Mila and Roarke get to know each in difficult circumstances.

I pieced together parts of the mystery and appreciated the satisfying story conclusion that tied up all the loose ends. I recommend Unexpected Witness to romantic suspense readers who like page turning stories with a relevant faith thread and found family themes.

  1. I really loved this book too and I agree it read so well. I didn’t get bogged down like I do in some suspense books.
