Book Description:
To save a child, he has to risk his own life.
When a minivan slides off the road into an icy lake, Officer Samuel Miller narrowly rescues a woman and child from certain death. Only, Rachel Harding insists the crash is no accident — it’s eerily similar to how her sister and brother-in-law recently died. As the unexplained attacks escalate, Samuel is determined to protect Rachel and her orphaned niece at all costs. But when they make a shocking discovery, their investigation becomes even more dangerous, and survival may be impossible.
Narelle’s Thoughts:
I enjoyed reading Alaskan Police Protector, Megan Short’s debut romantic suspense set in Alaska. Rachel is working remotely and living in Cordova, Alaska, to care for her orphaned six-year-old niece. Six month earlier, Rachel’s sister and brother-in-law passed away after their vehicle ran off the road and landed in a lake. Their deaths were ruled an accident but Rachel isn’t convinced this is true.
Samuel works for the Alaskan Police Department and moved there from Kentucky after losing loved ones in tragic circumstances. The story opens with Samuel witnessing a car hurtling off the road and becoming perilously close to falling into a lake.
Rachel and Samuel’s meet cute is stressful and action packed. Rachel believes her life is in danger and it might be connected to her sister’s accident. An alarming chain of events unfolds that leads to Samuel protecting Rachel and her niece.
I loved how Samuel and Rachel worked together to stay safe. The suspense plot kept me guessing and turning the page to find out what happened next. Their romance is sweet and their developing friendship challenges them to deal with their emotional baggage and consider if they could have a future together.
I recommend Alaskan Police Protector to romantic suspense readers who like short timeframe friends-to-more romances with danger, high octane suspense, forced proximity, and relevant faith elements that include forgiveness themes.

Sounds wonderful!
